*An “evergreen” retainer is a type of retainer agreement in which clients pay a set fee for hourly legal services and that fee automatically renews monthly until the matter is complete or either party terminates the agreement. The funds in an evergreen retainer are used to cover legal services and expenses. We charge against the retainer as services are rendered. If the client doesn’t use up the full retainer amount in a given period, the remaining balance may carry over to the next period or be refunded, depending on the status of the case. Because the retainer covers ongoing services, it is designed to ensure the client has continuous access to the provider’s services.
